I understand the situation. The press is very powerful, both in the United
States and in Russia. I do believe that it will take some time for the
perception to change. The show reopened so soon after October that the
general reaction has been, I think, typically human. Here in the United
States it has taken some time for people to adjust to life after September
11. But they have. And although things will never be exactly the same as
before, life goes on, and people are again able to smile. One thing that I
can see is that there is much love and support of "Nord-Ost". From a
business standpoint, Mr. Vasiliev and Mr. Ivashenko have careful decisions
to make. Passing the one year mark in October will certainly help. People do
need time to adjust, emotionally. As for the name of the show, perhaps for
the sake of keeping audiences, changing it may serve a purpose. But
"Nord-Ost" is "Nord-Ost". Hopefully the press will eventually see a
different side of the story. The side that I see. And it is an amazing one.
How extraordinary that this group of people were able to continue in spite
of what happened. It remains a mystery why some people find bad news more
interesting than good news. Perhaps "Nord-Ost" is only caught in a necessary
moment in time. From afar, I send my best wishes.
